Add PPS Lunch Menu to iPhone Calendar

Step-by-step: subscribe to Portland Public Schools lunch menus in the iPhone Calendar app with one tap.

Steps

  1. Open ppsmenu.com on your iPhone and choose the menus you need (K-5 lunch is selected by default).
  2. Tap Apple Calendar. iOS opens the subscribe sheet for a webcal:// feed — this is a live subscription, not a one-time import.
  3. When prompted, choose Subscribe / Add Calendar and confirm. You can later find it under Calendar → Calendars.
  4. Open the Calendar app — PPS lunch (and any other menus you picked) appear as all-day events on school days.
  5. Leave the subscription in place. Feeds refresh about once per day when Portland Public Schools publishes a new PDF, so you do not re-tap the button each month.

If subscribe does not appear

Some browsers treat the link as a download. Copy the webcal://ppsmenu.com/calendar/… URL from the homepage, open the Calendar app, tap Calendars → Add Calendar → Add Subscription Calendar, and paste it. Android users should use the Google Calendar guide instead.

FAQ

Does this work in the iOS Calendar app or only Safari?

Safari hands the webcal link to the system Calendar app. After you subscribe, events live in Calendar (and sync to Mac if iCloud Calendar is on).

Will it update when PPS posts September or October?

Yes. The feed is rebuilt from the latest parsed PDFs. You keep the same subscription.
